HOW TO POST BAIL IN ARAPAHOE COUNTY JAIL

During the bail hearing in Arapahoe County, the bail amount will be set by the judge depending on the crime’s gravity. Currently, most of the judges use The Colorado Pretrial Assessment Tool to evaluate the defendant’s appropriate bail amount. Once set, the defendant can now post bail. 

Defendants can post bail in Arapahoe County Jail through cash bail, availing Arapahoe County bail bonds, or using your property as collateral. 

Before posting bail, you must call the Arapahoe county jail to get the needed information on posting bail for your loved one. Here is the question that you need to ask to the jail or court representative:

  • Is the defendant allowed to post bail or not?
  • How much is the bail?
  • What channels can you use to post bail?
  • What is the best time to post bail?
  • What mode of payments are accepted?
  • Can I use a cash bail or bail bond agent?

Option 1: Posting bail using a cash bond

The defendant needs to pay the full bail amount to the court to get released from prison. Arapahoe County Jail accepts cash, cashier’s check, or money order for the cash bond. However, personal checks are not allowed. The bail amount could be $100 to $75,000, or even more, depending on the crime charged to the defendant. 

Once the case has been completed, the money will be returned to the person who posts the bail. Any person who wants to know the cash bond status must provide proper identification such as a driver’s license or I.D card.

Usually, it is more convenient to post bail in the Arapahoe County Detention Facility since bail paperwork will eventually be transferred to the jail. But you can post bail directly to the court where the bail hearing is held, if you wish.

Option 2: Posting bail using bail bonds

The bail bond or surety bond may be used to post bail with the help of a State-licensed bail bondsman. Arapahoe County jail also accepts equity in the real estate property to bail someone out of jail. If you don’t have access to cold cash, a property bond is an excellent choice to post bail for your loved one. Using your property as collateral is easier than to liquidate your property.

Posting bail using a property bond can be done during regular office hours in the Arapahoe County Combined Court Clerk’s Office. Keep in mind that the court will take possession of the land or house title until the case’s closure.
